Pyth Core Upgrade

Check that a Pyth Core integration works after the August 26, 2026 upgrade

Pyth Network upgraded Pyth Core on August 26, 2026 at 16:00 UTC. Pyth Core now gets its prices from the same architecture as Pyth Pro. The Pyth Pro routers aggregate and sign each price, and Hermes serves it. The Pyth Core and Pythnet section of How Pyth Pro Works shows the full data flow.

The Hermes API and the contract interface did not change. Hermes now requires a Pyth API Key.

What Changed

Since the upgrade, Pyth Core integrations get:

  • Higher-frequency updates for faster price moves.
  • Additional price feeds beyond the previous Pyth Core catalog.
  • Lower latency across the data path.

On EVM chains and Solana, a chain can have two Pyth Core contracts. Both work.

ContractWhat it is
Pyth CoreThe original Pyth Core contract, upgraded in place on August 26, 2026. Integrations kept their address.
Pyth Core CompatibleA second Pyth Core contract with the same interface, deployed before the upgrade so integrations could upgrade early.

Contract Addresses lists both for every chain.

What to Do

Find your integration below. Most need only an API key.

If youThen
Call HermesAdd a Pyth API Key to every request. See Add an API Key to Hermes.
Read prices from a Pyth Core or Pyth Core Compatible contract on an EVM chain or SolanaNothing. Both contracts keep working at their addresses. On Solana, sponsored feeds update the push feed accounts of both programs.
Use the original Pyth Core contract on SuiMove to the Pyth Core Compatible package. See Sui.
Use a chain on Chains No Longer SupportedPyth Core no longer runs there. Contact the team.
Use a protocol that integrates PythNothing.

Add an API Key to Hermes

Required for everyone who calls Hermes. Sign up at Pyth Terminal: a free trial is included, paid plans cover ongoing use.

Sign up at Pyth Terminal

Send the key in an Authorization: Bearer header. Without it, requests fail with authentication errors. Routes and response shapes are unchanged, and hermes.pyth.network and pyth.dourolabs.app/hermes serve the same API.

curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $PYTH_API_KEY" \
  "https://pyth.dourolabs.app/hermes/v2/updates/price/latest?ids[]=0xe62df6c8b4a85fe1a67db44dc12de5db330f7ac66b72dc658afedf0f4a415b43"

On Solana, if you use @pythnetwork/price-service-client, switch to @pythnetwork/hermes-client. On Sui, if SuiPriceServiceConnection doesn't accept an accessToken, upgrade @pythnetwork/pyth-sui-js to the latest version.

The Hermes API reference has the full surface.

Sui

The Pyth Core contracts on Sui could not be upgraded in place. Apps reference the Pyth package by object ID, and the DAO cannot swap that for you. Sui integrations move to the Pyth Core Compatible package. The Move from the Original Package section of Use Prices on Sui has the steps.
